Community
focus of The Andrews Journal |
After 40 years on Main Street and seven years on Laurel
Street, The Andrews Journal is once again downtown.
In July 2005, The Journal moved to 116 Chestnut Street,
across from the Valleytown Cultural Arts Building at the bottom
of the school house steps.
The communities of Andrews, Marble, Nantahala and Topton
are served by The Journal, which is published weekly
on Thursdays.
Local news is the focus of the paper, with special
attention given to schools, town and county meetings, sports,
weddings, engagements, birth announcements, business, entertainment,
churches, clubs and community events. Much of the community
news is submitted by members of the community.
The deadline for news items is Monday at 5 p.m. for
the following Thursdays edition. Make sure your name
and phone number appear on each submission.
The deadline for classified advertising is Tuesday
at noon. For display advertising, the deadline is Tuesday
at 4 p.m. for the following Thursdays edition.
Subscriptions to The Andrews Journal are $16
per year in Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties and $25 out-of-county
and out of state. Senior citizens receive a $1 discount.
With the exception of Wednesday, when the office is
closed, hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. For details,
